So, one thing I realized after I bought my YS640 is that the chimney doesn't have any sort of cap to keep the rain out. Up until now, I've used a Traeger that has cap on the chimney. Usually I try not to run my smoker in the rain, but have, on occasion, needed to for the holidays or a catering commitment. I don't have a covered porch or garage, and putting up a pop-up tent is not always an option. I was wondering if I used something like a chimney cap for a pellet stove, if that would have any sort of ill effect on the YS640. The goal isn't to restrict airflow, just keep rain from directly falling into the stack. And again, IF I used my YS640 in the rain (or snow), it would only be during light precipitation. It would stay safe and dry under its cover otherwise.
I'm thinking something like this chimney cap - https://www.homedepot.com/p/DuraVent-PelletVent-3in-Fixed-Vertical-Chimney-Cap-3PVL-VC/100679702 and this vent pipe https://www.homedepot.com/p/DuraVent-PelletVent-3-in-x-12-in-Double-Wall-Chimney-Stove-Pipe-3PVL-12/100679722.
Just rotate the chimney at whatever angle required to keep the moisture out of the cooker. There really isn't an issue, other than the grease bucket may fill up from water coming down the chimney.
