Grill grates YS1500

How many grill grates do you need for the 1500 .and what is the proper setup for direct grilling I had ago at direct grilling last night and I turned the grill off as it sent the temp dial off the chart any help will much appreciated

The proper manner is to use this:

Do you mean the whole plate or just the door that is in it ?Thanks for the link you sent it says there should be four plates as I was only sent three with my kit

Yes, remove the entire left side HMS plate, not just the slide.
