Chimney damper

Does anyone know why the 1500 has a damper on the stack but not on the 640 and 480?

The YS1500 was modeled after the Kingman offset wood cooker, and uses a much different heat management system which includes a larger chimney.

The YS480 and the YS640 are purpose build and do not need a chimney damper. We did have a rain cap on the chimney years ago, which was required to be fully open when the cooker was running. Owners were forgetting to open the rain cap, or not opening it fully, which was causing burn back into the hopper, so the rain cap was removed.
