Afternoon Everybody, today I was in the middle of a smoke on some baby back ribs, I had the temp set at 250 and all was going just fine until about 4 1/2 hours into the cook, all of a sudden I noticed that the temp was heading south on me and was dropping like a rock. I'm assuming that since the wind had kicked up some, it much have blown my fire out but it doesn't seem logical but I'm thinking that maybe a gust came up thru the hole for the drip tube and blew it out. I turned off the switch and unplugged it. I let it sit for a couple minutes then plugged it back in and turned it back on. I hit the start button and after a couple of minutes I heard the pellets ignite and then I lifted the lid to verify that they had started, I reset the temp back to the 250 degrees that I was smoking at and it went up to around 350 and so I opened the door to let it cool down some in a quicker manner. I didn't want to ruin my ribs. One rack was done but two more still needed to cook longer, After about 15 minutes and the fire had started to settle back down to my desired temp, I lost the fire again. This time, I moved the smoker to a different location, I did notice that after the restart again, when I would leave the door up, I could hear the auger keep feeding pellets and the fire kept getting bigger and the temp kept climbing. I pulled my two remaining racks of ribs and stuck them in the oven.

Have any of you guys experienced this kind of thing. I'm at a loss as to why the fire continued to grow, the temp was up over 350 by a long shop, more like around 387 to 391.

This leaves me scratching my head. Any ideas?

Thanks one and all for your replies and help.
