Can our older YS640 pellet cookers be retrofitted with the new controller?

Yes, all current models of Yoder Smokers pellet cookers will be able to be retro fitted with the new controller.

Had my YS640 now for about a month, had I known the new model was coming, I would have waited.

Yes, many people would have waited. That's why most companies don't announce future product releases.
