YS480 temp too high after startup

When I start my 480 the temperature always overshoots the set point, anywhere from 100 to 150 degrees. And it never comes down or it comes very slowly. I'm grilling right now, about 30 minutes after startup with a set point of 450, and the temp is finally down to 475. It started at a high of ~575. The grill is about three years old. The problem has developed in the last 6 months or so.

Any ideas?
