As Joe stated, the new heat diffuser will be an optional add-on accessory, and will not be included in the base price of the cookers.

Can you share with us what the difference will be between the stock one and the add-on one?

Sorry, no, not until it is released. It will be an add-on that can be added or changed at any time.

Well with Christmas coming Maybe we will see the diffuser soon so we can arrange to have one for under the Christmas tree.

Well now it's official, 3 months and not so much as a "sorry guys" What a disappointment to find out this forum from the manufacturer is the same as others. I thought Yoder was would impress me like their smoker has. I guess not enough interest at this point to bother with the few who were interested in these updates and willing to pay for improvements .
We apologize if we have upset any of you over this. As I stated in my prior post we will only release items that are proven and will be a benefit to our users. With any design there is pros and cons, we found that there was a few minor tweaks that needed to be made.
I was a little early announcing that we would be releasing thiss accessory. It is coming soon!
I think all we really ask is an update from time to time as No answer feels like you forgot about us . Best to let someone know there is no news then to let us dig for it and try a figure what happened. I guess the word is transparency something Obama administration could learn from

I believe Joe has been transparent and trust me, this has not been forgotten about. He stated several times that a product will not be released until Yoder is satisfied with its performance. Would you rather have something hurried out and not perform to its potential? Or wait a little longer and get a better product as an end result? If there is nothing to update, why post and say "Nothing new to add"?
There is no reason to make anything here political. I may or may not agree with your political views, but this is not the forum to discuss those matters.
Feel confident that Yoder is working to make products perform up to expectations. When it is ready, it will be released.
Way back in my design days, I had to deal with semiconductor manufacturers who would put "products" in catalogs that existed only in a marketing sense. They would use the number of calls from design engineers trying to order the "product" to decide whether to allocate design resources to it.
I can't tell you how much time I wasted chasing down those non-existent chips. I was designing solar-powered controllers for the petroleum industry and was out there on the edge, component-wise. Always looking for lower power consumption, reduced chip count and (most importantly) improved reliability. [My gear NEVER blew up anything.]
Point being? I am WAY cool with how Yoder approaches product introductions.

Thanks, is an installation document available for the new burn pot? I would like to see what is involved.
It's really easy. I did mine without any documents. Remove the burn grate then remove the silicone. Once that's done there's a bolt on the bottom of the burn pot. Once that's out it just takes a little wiggling to get the burn pot out. Clean up the areas where the old silicone was really well. Re-assemble then replace the silicone. The only issue I has is that after a week I noticed I hadn't completely filled in one spot with silicone. Once I fixed that I've never had to adjust the burn grate again and the silicone hasn't failed. Best $109 I spent in a long time. Mines been in for months now.

If the build date on the door plate is Sept 1, 2014 or later, you already have the new burn grate and firebox.

Thanks! Does the large area of silicone that currently is behind the grate at the top of the old burn pot have to be removed? If so does it have to be filled in again before installing the new box or does the new box completely cover and seal off that opening now? I had to replace that silicone once already and being it is a fairly large gap it was a bit of a process.
Yes, you should clear all of the current silicone off from all around the old firebox.
All you need to do for the top side is to put silicone on the back side of the bar that covers the opening where the large seam is, and then wipe it smooth after you but the firebox in place, as it should squeeze it out a little.

Thanks Herb. Besides a razer blade, any tips on removing the old silicone? I know brake cleaner works ok but i dont feel very comfortable using that in a cooker.
Razor blade and a putty knife. A dry rag and a little elbow grease to get the residual to peel off if necessaty.
