Hi all,
one of the 2 1500 thermometer have a problem ,
the temperature is about 100f less than other,
I try to swap the position and the result is the same.
Can I try to calibrate it ?
Or my thermometer is a defective unit ?
I find in the thermometer manual the procedure but I can't find a screw hole in my thermometer.

Ok, I find info in the web about this thermometer, if I understand well is pre calibrate from factory and I can't calibrate it.
So, my unit is defective ?

Put the stem in boiling water to see what it reads. It should be close to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on your altitude.

Mine are off as well, but only like 20f, they are not adjustable, at least they show the same, when i took the water test on em, for me it doesnt matter, i use em for monitoring pit temp from side to side and thats rock solid within 5-10 degrees F of each other, , u will also find the left one will show much higer temp during pre heating of your pit from a cold start, i always start mine at 350F, when setpoint is reached i ramp down to desierd cooking temp f.eks 250F and after setpoint is obtaind u have an even temp in your grill
. Just use your digital controler for monitoring the pit temp, mine is bang on the money ( your computer display)
Ok,
I try the incriminated theermometer with boiling water and display about 210F,
I try to swap one more time the 2 thermometer and the themperature swap ok.
now after pit stabilization with some ribs inside the situation is :
The controller 274F
The upper thermometer 226F
The lower thermometer 174F
The Igrill2 with probe placed in the center of the upper grate 227F
I understand this:
The incriminated thermometer is not a defective unit, but why in the lower position show 50 F less than upper position ?
I see some video show the same info from upper an lower thermometer,

Not a problem for me, just curious.

Did u preheat it to 350F? It takes a while before the temp is setteling in the pit from side to side, alot of steel involved here , normally what ive seen is during heat up there is alot of difference, but this is normal since u got the firebox on ur left side, once up to 350f, and leave it or setting it down to whatever desired temp, the pit will stabelize in a short time
And if u open up the door as well for a little period of time to baste or whatever, the auger will feed more pellets to compensate for heatloss, and then again u will get hotter on top and left side, then bottom right. Give it some time and it stabilizes pretty quickly
