I purchased my YS480 in November of 2013. I live in Central Florida, and I probably use my grill more days a year than most people are able to. I've have never had a problem with it, but because of very hot weather this summer, a hurricane, being high on crack, and some other reasons, I have not used it for about four months. It is stored outside on the patio, but I have the correct Yoder cover for it and it stays tightly covered when not in use.

This morning, I fired it up to cook my turkey, and while the fan worked fine and the auger worked fine, after about 1 minute run time, it would trip the GFI button in the garage and stop. This happened several times, so I tried another extension cord, I plugged it directly into an outlet, but it continued to trip the GFI after about a minute of runtime on, so I put the turkey in the oven.

I cleaned out the hopper where the auger comes in; I cleaned out the fire pot, and I started to collect information to give to Yoder customer service for when I planned to call them on Monday. I started it up one last time so I could get the software version number and I hit the "Start" button just to try it one more time. Well, this last time it stayed running, humming, and cooking, so I put the turkey back on the grill. That was about four hours ago, and my turkey is just about done.

I just wanted to let people know that my YS480 has served me well over the last three years, but I think I will store it in the garage between uses from now on. I'm not that old yet that I can't pull it out and put it away after cooks. That will prevent any moisture, bugs, birds, or frogs from getting into it between uses. Thanks for building a great machine Yoder.

Sounds like you need a new igniter. You can purchase one here: http://www.atbbq.com/yoder-smokers-ys-s ... niter.html

Thank you Herb. I worked very well for both days. No problems. I think that I will order a new igniter and a thermocouple anyway just to have them on hand. I suspect the problem was the result of high humidity and not using it for some time.
