If you look on the bottom of your diffuser, you should have an angle welded to the bottom to reinforce it from warping. This is the heat diffuser the update program is for. The optional 2 piece diffuser is not covered under the update program, nor is it included with the cooker. It must be purchased as a separate optional accessory.
Just checked again...mine is reinforced. Thanks.
I received my new diffuser plate and it warped already at a cooking temp of 450.

Can you pick the diffuser plates up in Wichita?
They are only available from the Yoder factory in Hutchinson, and would still require the payment of $29.95.
I have a new YS640 and have been using it for only six months with the upgraded diffuser plate. The problem I have is that the plate is warped. There is a twist in the plate. I would recommend that we look into putting another welded piece on the opposite end of the plate to keep the twist from happening. Any suggestions from the gallery?
I have the 2 piece plate but for $30 is it worth getting anyway to replace the standard one.
Personal choice for you. I have never used the original plate after I put in the 2 piece. Also, if your cooker is new, you already have the reinforced plate.
HI, I too got the reinforced diffuser and, despite never going over 400, it has warped. I just emailed customer service.

New YS640 owner here...my build date shows January 11, 2016....but I received the old diffuser plate. When you say manufactured January 2016, did you mean, AFTER the 11th?

I've had my replaced diffuser (1 piece) for about 1.5 years and I can report back that this new reinforced design warps as bad as the first one I had. I occasionally cook at 400° for one hour (done this about 5 times since getting it replaced) and each time after it cools down, I have to try and bent it back straight again. I now use a piece of metal re-bar to try and keep it straight. Unfortunately for me, this diffuser does not perform as it should, and really never has since new. I bought my YS640 in summer of 2017 and it already had the new diffuser in it at purchase. At this point, I'd suggest to not bother with this plate and just get the 2 piece. Despite the "reinforcement" of it, it still warps like crazy and isn't worth the hassle.
Wow, 2 things,
I bought my unit used in 2012,
I know I do not want to give up the trap door.
